UI Improvements
I frequently worked with various teams to review our existing UI and design, and then determined ways in which we could improve upon it. This work ranged from engaging in UX activities to working strictly within the user interface itself.
The following projects demonstrate what type of user interface work I’ve conducted, from more UX-focused activities to visual improvements within the UI.
Grounding Users: Profile Header
While conducting an audit of landing screens within our product, I discovered a problem within one of the main UI patterns. This independent project was my proposal of a way to improve our interface and provide users with helpful information as they navigated across screens.
Problem: users lacked sufficient data to help them understand which record they were viewing as part of a list
Requirements: a UI proposal which incorporated the design standards and would be technically feasible within the framework
Activities: competitive analysis, wireframes, mock-ups
Deliverable: case study PDF for presentation + hand-off
Modernizing the UI: Gallery Card Design
Our Learning Management team consulted with me to develop a new gallery card pattern for our product. We collaborated regularly with our technical team to review requirements and bring the gallery card to life.
Problem: our software suffered from being able to display records (in this scenario, courses) in a visually engaging manner. The ask was to develop a sort of card which could show a summary of information to users.
Stakeholders: Product Managers, Dev Leaders
Requirements: design a card capable of displaying information as well as actions
Activities: competitor research, wireframes, mock-ups, team reviews
Deliverables: mock-ups for technical team
